The Parade is being held 5 miles from my house!
Here is a M-471, plates is "LastOne", I wonder if this is #260?

I'm pretty sure it is
I already sent a mail to the guy who restored and sold it a couple of years ago - no reply yet

I believe this is the same guy who owns 9142430259

The car (260?) at Parade was restored by Porsche

Glenn,
Is it true it has the ignition key on the column like the 4 cylinders? Was this something the factory did late in production?

every MY'72 914-6 (914.2.43.0xxx) had it at this location

Glenn,
Is it true it has the ignition key on the column like the 4 cylinders? Was this something the factory did late in production?

That is one of the reasons I prefer the 1970-71 models

Man that's a beautiful car!!!!!!!

Interesting that someone would go to the expense of a factory restoration on such a significant car and still make the decision to add a hood crest.

However, I still second guess myself for removing the crest on 9141430233 especially after receiving photos of the car from May of 1972 showing a crest on the front hood. I'm sure that Erich Strenger had it installed (heck, he design it).

Gustl,

Over on the world site, NARO914 from Charlotte, NC while at Parade in Chicago took photos of 0260 and made the following quote:

"The green six with the 'LAST ONE' plate is supposedly the last 914/6 ever built. He sent it to Porsche to have them completely restore it"

Steve

Did you happen to notice the interesting seat belt receiver's and the more modern looking carpeting installed in 0260? And the corduroy inserts look slightly different than the originals. And the threshold panels and carpet strips are black plastic instead of aluminum.

I would guess that if Porsche did the restoration, they used a lot of superseded parts. They are not going to search high and low, and countless hours on the internet (ebay and Auto Atlanta's lost warehouse of 914 parts, etc.) for the correct NOS parts.

I noticed the belt receivers too.
This is interesting because this guy owns (or used to) 914.243.0259.

"The green six with the 'LAST ONE' plate is supposedly the last 914/6 ever built. He sent it to Porsche to have them completely restore it"

definitely true - it's 914.2.43.0260
definitely NOT true - Porsche had nothing to do with this restoration

Well the factory restoration story was cool while it lasted. Thanks for getting that clarified Wolfgang.

After looking at the interior photo again I noticed that it does have the correct aluminum carpet strips but for some reason he used the later black plastic threshold sills. Maybe he didn't know about those beautiful reproduced ones that are now available.
