This is Sandy's car, another Sebastopuddlian. He's giving his highly modified 914-6 (factory) racer a freshening and sent me some pics. Sandy said "Top side done! Finally! Next is the bottom, strip and recoat with more Zolatone. Then off to the shoot some red on it. Getting close! What a long path it has been."

cheers,

More from Sandy:
"A couple of more shots. So much preparation prior to paint. This is only a small portion of a complete refit of the AIR body kit. Note the area just behind where the fire wall. I formed a new engine cover (carbon fiber) carried back into the rear deck lid, thereby moving the leading edge of the deck lid rearward. The openings (outlined by blue tape) for the air cleaners cut into the superstructure of the deck lid. This made the rear deck lid very weak. I created a new superstructure, replicating the same profile and married it to the deck lid. Now engine cover and the deck lid lock together very nicely. This is what you see in the photo.
Over,
SS"

VERY Nice!

I live in Santa Rosa, and I have a car very similar to this one. I would love to get in contact with Sandy, trade notes/stories/show and tell.

Sandy's car looks as trick or more trick than my car! What does it consist of? Engine? Tranny? What class will it race in?

I know your car. Ran with "Super Dave" a few times. I will guess that is not you. I heard he sold the car. Looks like you picked up his whole outfit. NICE!
Our cars a similiar in many ways. Dave did a very nice job on this car, you have a good one.

Wow! Great Pic! It's been a while since I logged in here. Thanks! What were you driving? I didn't point very many cars by.

I lucked out in buying Dave's car, bought the whole program.

After taping more than 75% of my cooler up I finally got the oil temps above 200!

I'm getting faster with every lap. My tires are really old and hard. They were OK for my first event, but now I am beginning to push the car. Spinning at turn 2 early was scary. I'll have newer tires next time, and I hope to step my game up a notch.

I really want to meet other 914 racers. I'm doing everything solo to this point, and it would be great to have buddies to drive and pit with.

I would like to get together with you to discuss some fine points on our very similiar cars.

In the past I pitted next to Dave and Ted. As I get back into the action it would be nice to associate with similiar car/drivers on and off the track.

A point of interest at this point is trail arm bushings. Dug referred me to Elephant and their Bronze bushing. I am considering that product, but would like to explore any other alternatives and experiences the group may have.

It is great that you are in Santa Rosa, if that is correct.

Feel free to email me.

Chris Foley at Tangerine Racing has a roller-bearing setup, I believe. I'm not sure how it compares to the bronze bushing Elephant setup. Foley feels that it is superior, of course, but I think it is more expensive.

I checked in with Foley regarding the bearing set up for the trailing arms. He does not carry that type of product. He states there were some problems. Shine racing used to make that setup but have discontinued it.

At this point I am considering a hybred set up that Foley and I have been discussing, I may get one of the first ones out.
I am still considering the Elephant Racing Product.

I do need a front Control Arm rear mount, as I discovered I have a cracked one on the passenger side. :( All my bushings and other parts relating to the control arms appear to be sound.

Any body in the group have a used one they will part with?

Please advise,
Sandy
