I am securing the purchase of the car right now, details to follow.
It is an old SCCA/IMSA car with many years of racing history.
I will post historic pictures when I have them!

it's a 1/43 resine model from PIT

unfortunately I don't have the original box, so I don't know the exact model number
I found it on eBay a couple of years ago

it seems to be pretty rare, because I only saw it 2 or 3 times within the last 10 years

if ever I would see another one I'll let you know

I sanded the door to find the strip line and found the remains of the letters "ZUL"

From the pic, it looks more like "ZUP" or (more likely) "ZUF", possibly followed by another "F". As in Zuffenhausen.

Dave it is ZUL as in Zulkowski the driver, you can see the lettering in the period pictures.

It still looks like ZUP or ZUF to me, even knowing what it really is.

BTW, Kahler's and EASY are still around in the East Bay. You may be able to get some history for one or both of them.

Dave,
You really need to see the door in person to see where the black is sanded thru to the white gel coat and what is white paint over the black. I am most interested in finding Darrel Overstreet (the owner after Zulkowski) right now because I have only 1 race in the logbooks under his ownership. If you go back in this post you can see the spreadsheet with all the Trans-Am, SCCA and IMSA races the car participated in.

Sweet. I ran my first track day ever at Second Creek in a spec miata. It was the last day before it closed for good two years ago. Stupid people built houses near the track and then decided they didn't like the noise from the open pipe V8s on the dirt oval. Unfortunately, they also couldn't differentiate that noise from the road course and so the whole place got closed down.

Anyway, it was a cool course. Not very long, but had some nice elevation change and some tricky braking zones with off camber kinks and stuff.

but I'm an idiot, concerning this topic ...
