My 1970 914-6 #9140431874 targa top inside is bare, not perlon. Is this typical?
Does anyone know what years had and didn't have this lining?
If so, when did it start to be added?
Did all the cars have it some how my car had it removed?
I presume that for all cars that had it, the material was gray perlon except for the 916?
I am thinking of adding it to my top to reduce cabin noise.
Thanks

I know the 1970 -4 or -6s did not have it. Not sure when, seems like maybe 73?
The perlon was added sometime in 1970, from what I have seen

There were a lot of folks who added it after it came out.

Exactly and it is too easy to put a different targa on the car.

So if one were to add the Perlon to the inside of the top-
Would this be a sacrilege add it to my 1970 914-6?
I do like the noise reduction inside the cabin from its installation.

I would think about getting another top for that purpose, because they are so trivially easy to swap. They're pretty cheap, just not easy to ship...

You're in SF, so you can ask over at Partsheaven in Hayward, EASY in Emeryville, or High Performance House in Redwood City. HPH will be the most expensive, but they will have ... well, anything!!
You probably want a 70-72 top, as the seals are likely to better mate with the windows on your car.
You can also post a WTB on here, on the Pelican BBS, or the very active 914world and 914club websites.
