This is one of the last 20 914/6s made; it is evident that the roll cage raced this car.

George always claims this to be "the last" 914-6, but there's no proof till now

he always tells us, that the cars weren't built in numerical order which seems to be a fact

but there are 20 VINs higher that #0240 ...

914.2.43.0260 is currently for sale in Austria, but the asking price is ridiculous

I want incontravertible proof of this.
Why were they not built in numerical order?
I cannot imagine them building the cars out of VIN sequence.
The body numbers bounce around a lot, but I can see good reason for that.

This could be the last 914/6 built in 1972 but we would need to see Karman numbers on this car and the last 20 cars to confirm.

Why were they not built in numerical order?

a Porsche guy, who visited Karmann every now and then, told us that they always had problems with the quality, so they had to take bodies off the production line to solve some problems and then bring them back to the production line when they were fine - so there was always a little mix-up between VINs numerical order and actual production time

Wolfgang,
This was happend for the -4.

How you know Karmannn build only the chassis for the 6.
VIN and all other stuff they got it at Porsche.
I think ...240 is not the last build 6.
...260 is the real last one (except for the customer build 6 by Porsche in
the 80ties)

All other is true speculation.

But Porsche wrote me that they had build 242 -6 in 1972 so the last number
must be ....242.

Whats happend with the 18 numbers gap?

Wilco

P.S. I am really happy that I own 022 so I don't must think about
the last one ;)

Hi Glenn,
I think Porsche is a little bit confused, after the "old" guys are not longer
on board.
The letter (COA) from Porsche I have is from mid of February.
The youngsters at Porsche in Stuttgart are not really interest in
the Porsche history.
Porsche is in the opposite to the history a massmanufacturer today with
other targets than history.
