That would have been a nice upgrade! Do you know which publication this was taken from? It looks like a excerpt from a repair manual.

That was out of my 1970 Service Information booklet. See the threads on the Technical Information binder, and the Service and Training booklets. So, the idea was there very ezarly on, but they just never delivered. Perhaps that boss on the transmission was to mount the slave cylinder.
