When I went to Europe in 2003 the French tail lite lenses were still available from Porsche Classic at 100 euros each.

Yes, and also notice the orange 914/8 has the prototype lenses that can be flipped side for side.

If the bit at the end is clear, not patterned, and with the reflector being the same colour (ie not red), it looks like a standard US spec item that has been soaked in something to bleach out the colour. I have no idea what, though diesel has been said to be effective.

Maybe just a bad photo or wanted someone with a Photoshop Correction glasses interesting.
The correction of the right image was simply "+30% saturation and "Hue -10%.
Poor experience I have by washing with gasoline to make similar to the execution of "Gruntie" with Diesel - the orange colour bleaches out!

The Porsche PET catalog shows these lens to be:
Part # 91463194712 Left
Part # 91463194812 Right
They are still listed in the Porsche price sheets, but one would need to check current price and availability with their local Porsche Dealership.

Which lenses are those that are in the PET? US-spec? European-spec? French? Other?
AFAIK, the US-spec ones are NLA. High Performance House in Redwood City bought all the ones available through Porsche a few years ago--and they know exactly what they're worth! AA may have a few NOS ones on the shelf, and there may be a few others here and there as well, but don't expect them to be cheap.
The European-spec ones were still available new last I checked.
(All of the above info is from several years ago; things may have changed since then.)
