Yeah, I have a couple of both on the shelf.

I'd applaude a concours interior judge for gigging the second one, but doubt he/she would have the time to notice, so long as it was functional.

I've noticed that the Bug lights, which are popular (cheap!) replacements for ours, are much clearer and much brighter than the 914 ones I've seen. The 914 light is more "frosted" and softens the light a lot more than the Bug version.

That's why I've got an old cracked 914 one in my car, the light thrown by the Bug light was too harsh.

This interior light was removed from a very early 914-6. At first it looks like the normal Hella version until you look a little closer and you see that it is made by "Sidler". I'm fairly certain this was the original light that came in this 914. Very interesting!

Over the years I've seen no less than 10 different versions of the interior light that fits the 914. However this is the only "Sidler" version I've ever seen.

Hi Steve, thanks for posting. Can you enumerate the different versions you have seen please.

Here's the Wolfsburg West reproduction. It's got the silver outer trim, but the switch is the wrong shape and on the wrong side (mount upside down?). But I'd still choose it instead of the non-silver reproduction posted above.

Sidler interior lamp:
This was part of the holding company "Sico" the company Sidler.
This company was reorganized and now belongs to the American company Flextronics.
No stocks exist because after 15 years from finishing the camp was evacuated.
