....these aluminum trim rings were on this '70/4 when originally delivered on April 01, 1970. I've got at least two Porsche factory archive photos of early 914s showing this trim ring as well. After the laughter subsides at a Porsche concours, do you think extra points could be added for having the cajones to show the car with these? I haven't seen a 914 with these on the wheels since I removed them and the 4.5 steel wheels in '78.

Wow, that was a long time to keep the 4.5" rims. By about that time I had 5 bolt pattern and 7" rims on my 73 1.7 shod with 185/70 tires. Yes, I might be inclined to add a bonus point or two.

This aluminum rings were mainly with VW logo hubcap steel rims and the VW Beetle and the VW types 1500/1600 and VW 411/412.
The 914 / 4 years of construction the 1970 and 1971 had this in Europe with steel wheels generally the VW logo stamped.
The aluminium rings to my knowledge were never part of the normal price list.
From the '72 Series (914 1.7) were steell wheels hubcap without VW logo.
