Nr.118 - Fernandez / Ferndandez (914.0.43.1569 - canary yellow)
Nr.181 - Tokai / Lepri ... Group 4 ... started at Athens

I have the poster, I will do a scan of it one of these days.
It feels very fragile:(

Yeah, know wht you mean. I have 3 of them & they are all getting stiff, though stored for these many years under semi-proper conditions.

Anyone know what one of these is worth, inpristine condition? Not that I would sell ANY 914 poster, few they may be.

Destroyed for factory purposes, or destroyed in competition?

Pat:confused:

can't tell for sure, but I don't think of an accident in competition
the car doesn't finish the '71 Monte due to a tech failure and was used for practicing for the '71 Targa Florio later in 1971
no more races or practicing known

let's see if I could find out anything else about that ...

Pat, Any of the original 914 posters in 30x40 is worth a couple of hundred dollars...

For preservation they should be sent to someone who can properly put them on a linen backing...

I have an original Targa Florio 908 poster that is framed and was already a little worn around the edges...that I really need to have backed...

Anyone have a shot inside the front trunk? I would like to see how those hood mounted Cibie's are wired so that you can still open the lid.

'71 Monte GT #1 (914.1.43.0141 = S-Y 7716)

not very detailed, but more or less what you asked for

Peter,

Can you explain the linen backing & it's purpose? I have somewhere near 50 factory posters from the early 70's to mid '80's that I've kept rolled & tubed for MANY years. Most seem OK, but I sure don't want them to deteriorate, though I've been thinking about parting with lot to realease some space.

The backing supports the structure of the paper. The poster gets glued to the cloth, which is flexible enough to roll up but strong enough not to tear nearly as easily as the paper does.

Glenn,
I see a bit of a "trend" here, that is, the compilation of photos of a particular 914, or 914 venue. If we(you) could somehow organize all the pics of, say, 86 Stunden cars, Monte Carlo rally cars, /6 GTs on the track, 914s in Rally competion we could access this info easier and address questions and add comments and background as each of us finds it. Photos of noteworthy cars could be posted and edited by whatever category seemed appropriate.
