...I get my chops busted cause I like to put small wood blocks under the jacking points when I put my car on the lift...it raises the car up just enough to save the rocker panels from getting damaged from the lift arms.

They put towels under this one....

I always thought the 916 used the GT oil system . Is that an upside down oil thermostat in the left picture ?

Does anyone know what the story is on the extra heat collector on the right side heat exchanger? I'm thinking for the warm up thermostat on the injection pump, but that's just a guess.

Good eye, that was why I posted the picture.

As long as we are on the topic of this issue of Excellence...is it me, or are the classified ads gone?

Did I miss something in the last issue?

They are gone. There is a notice in the Dec. issue about it. They feel adds are better served on the web due to the publishing delays of the mag.

Interesting--so Bradholio was right! He took a Six chassis to a shop up in N. Cal somewhere (Eureka?) for stripping. They said, "We've done one of these, but it had a metal roof and not that fiberglass thing." They said it had been black before they stripped it.

It might have been dipped? I don't remember the details.

The color change on this car was performed a while back.
I think it was done in Europe

Any idea of the colour code of the original dark blue?

Gustl

my guess would be the "dark blue" that was available at the 911 this time

the car itself shows L80E :D

Hi Glenn and Dave,
I have this question only now read.
Below a part of the letter I to 1 Owner written.

You have 916 new at the company Porsche North Rhine, Dusseldorf purchased. Mr. Graf seller was Hardenberg. Original 34 S dark blue color (347). Front spoiler bumper off in red with white lettering and PORSCHE Cibié Pallas-headlights on the front hood. On the rear bumper was also a white Porsche logo. The images indicate the original condition. As a result, you had the vehicle with an accident where the car was badly damaged and a repair, for lack of parts, only Porsche in the repair work could be done. This then took almost one fourth year. The repair costs were then some 35,000 DM They had, however, to repair the front spoiler bumper not in red but in dark blue paint.
